I am incredibly excited about this particular Blogathon because not only is it dedicated to one of my favourite genres, costume films, but it’s also the first Blogathon that I am cohosting with the wonderful Paul from Silver Screen Classics. This is bound to be a wonderful two days of reading about some of the best costume films that have been made, and maybe some we haven’t heard of.
So without further ado, I shall put on my hoop and petticoats and read the entries.
Firstly we have Silver Screenings writing about The Unsinkable Molly Brown and the evolution of her high society wardrobe.

Story Enthusiast brings to our attention the very interestingly named Luis Rainer vehicle, The Toy Wife.

I share my many thoughts on the machinations of the aristocracy during the Ancien Régime in Dangerous Liaisons.

The Stop Button discusses the danger of intense isolation in The Desert of the Tartars.

Charity’s Place unpacks Cate Blanchett’s sinister femme in the remake of Nightmare Alley.

The tragic true story of Mrs Stoffel and Ed Biddle in the eponymous film, is explored by Gill from Realweegiemidget Reviews.

Rebecca from Taking Up Room gives us lighter fare with the Marion Davies vehicle, Lights of Old Broadway.

Whimsically Classic writes about the sumptuous Warner Brothers costume drama, The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex.

The fantastical alchemy of John Boorman’s Excalibur is discussed by Jimi from Fletch Talks.

The timeless tale of Cyrano de Bergerac is brought to life again through 18 Cinema Lane’s review.

Charity’s Place returns with her thoughts on the broodingly gothic Jane Eyre (2006).

Classic Movie Muse gives us a look into how to dress like the OG femme fatale in Samson and Delilah.
