Announcing the Cool Rider: Maxwell Caulfield Blogathon

So many of you who know me, also know that I am a HUGE Maxwell Caulfield fan. It’s so bad that when I make a decision, I often think: What would Michael Carrington do? Yes. It’s indeed… that… bad…

Maxwell Caulfield is best known now for portraying British geek heartthrob, Michael Carrington, in the cult classic, Grease 2. But he also starred as Miles Colby in one of my favourite 80s soap operas, The Colbys, and went on to star in another cult classic, Empire Records, as the has-been smarm-king, Rex Manning. His stage career isn’t anything to sneeze at either, with leads in Guys and Dolls, Singin’ In The Rain, The Elephant Man and The Lady Vanishes.

He’s also one of the Hollywood success stories when it comes to his personal life, as he’s been married to Juliet Mills (daughter of Sir John and sister to Hayley), for almost forty years! Now that’s true love, kiddos.

So without further ado, let’s get to the rules for this lovely event:

The rules: 

  1. Maxwell has had quite a long career and so his filmography is solid, as are his stage and television credits. Because of this, I will be allowing only two duplicates per entry, and three posts per participant. Please only submit new work, as I wonā€™t be accepting any posts written previously.
  2. You can write about anything you like pertaining to Maxwell’s film career, television appearances he’s made, and his friendships and relationships with fellow film stars, as well as his marriage to Juliet and his connection to the Mills family. But please note that this blogathon is about him and not the Mills family, so don’t only write about them and put a tiny piece in for Maxwell šŸ˜‰
  3. This blogathon is dedicated to his life and work and I want to celebrate him, so letā€™s please keep things nice and not write anything derogatory or defamatory about him.
  4. The Blogathon is being held on the 22nd of November, 2020, which is around his 61st birthday. Please submit your entries either before or by that date. If you find that you need a little extension, please let me know.
  5. Please take one of the banners and put it somewhere on your site to promote the blogathon. Iā€™d also very much appreciate it if you included one of the banners in your post for the blogathon.
  6. And most importantly, please let me know what you would like to write about for the blogathon, by either commenting on this post, emailing me at palewriterblog@gmail.com, or contacting me on twitter @noir_or_never. Please include the name of your blog and a link to it, as I donā€™t really want to act as an amateur sleuth and hunt for you! Please tag me on twitter when you share your entry on there, so I can retweet it šŸ™‚

  2. While I have seen about half of ‘Grease 2’, I’m familiar with Maxwell from his Hallmark movies. He starred in three of these films, with the only Christmas title being ‘I’m Not Ready for Christmas’. Because this is the one Hallmark movie of his I haven’t seen, I’ll choose this project for my entry.

    I’ve taken a long hiatus away from blogging, because I’m now under contract with Pen and Sword to write a biography on Katharine Hepburn. However, due to the pandemic, my research plans have been delayed and postponed, so I’m utilizing that time to update my blog. I seen this blogathon announcement of yours and thought it looked interesting. I’ll have to think of a topic.
